The State Fair of Texas will run for its usual 24 days this year, with nearly everything back to normal.
Fans can once again enjoy the Big Tex Choice Awards, which have always been a favorite among fairgoers, as well as Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs, outdoor concerts, the Texas Auto Show, and creative arts contests.
Although fair organizers remained hopeful last year that the fair could take place, in July of 2020 the decision was made to pull the plug on the annual Dallas event due to the pandemic. Following its one-year hiatus, the public has been cautioned that this year’s fair may have a slightly different vibe as it is possible that there may be CDC-recommended measures being observed, perhaps including poster printing to display the latest guidelines.
Beginning September 9, individual tickets will be available for purchase; currently season passes are on sale. Prices to attend the fair have increased a little with season passes increasing in price from $45 to $50 each, while the daily ticket range has gone from the 2019 price range of $14-$18 to 2021 price range of $18-$25.
According to a release from State Fair of Texas president, Michell Glieber, the 2021 fair theme will be “Howdy, Folks!”, which is the well-known catchphrase of the fair’s giant mascot Big Tex, who greet fairgoers with those words every year.
This year, it starts September 24 and concludes October 17.
