Southwestern Medical Center ranked No. 2 in Texas

Once again U.S. News & World Report has rated UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas as the second-best hospital in the Lone Star State and No. 1 for the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

In addition to its overall ranking, each hospital was ranked according to its performance in a variety of specialties such as cardiology, cancer, vascular and heart surgery, neurology, neurosurgery and orthopedics. In a press release, Daniel K. Podolsky, M.D., president of UT Southwestern said:



"Our collaborative multidisciplinary approach to patient care, as in our overall mission to educate, discover, and heal, continues to drive innovation at UT Southwestern and produce exceptional outcomes for the patients and families we are privileged to serve."

Also earning an impressive ranking was Baylor University Medical Center which was named No. 2 across DFW and No. 3 among Texas’ best hospitals. Other Dallas hospitals that were in Texas' top 30 were Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital that was ranked No. 13 and Methodist Dallas Medical Center, which tied for the No. 23 spot with Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano and Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Grapevine.

Named the best Texas hospital for the 13th year running was Houston Methodist Hospital. Additionally, Houston Methodist was for the 8th time listed among the country’s 20 best hospitals
