Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has added an electric vehicle (EV) charging station to its Illinois Station and to its Glenn Heights Park & Ride location.
Neither of these sites had previously had EV charging stations, and a shortage of charging stations existed in both areas. Their installation was due to a collaboration between DART and the North Central Texas Council of Governments, and were a first for DART.
Blink Series 8 Dual Port chargers are the ones installed at the two locations, and each one can charge two cars at a time. The typical charge time is 4-8 hours and there will be no cost to charge a vehicle through August 31, 2024. Those taking a train from one of these locations can leave their car charging while at work or shopping and come back to find it fully charged at no cost.
Explanatory signage is one of the many items for which businesses turn to printing services.
The charging stations were made possible by a grant in the amount of $79,472 from the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality fund.
In addition to the obvious benefits of engendering sustainability, the new charging stations will provide DART with a better understanding of the benefits, usage, and cost of charging stations as the organization weighs up the pros and cons of expanding the stations throughout the DART service area.
