The launching of the new workforce center, the goal of which is to offer residents better jobs and a brighter future, is a watershed moment in the continual transformation of what was known as the Valley-View Galleria area of North Dallas.
The new job center promises to put Dallas in the lead in as far as providing the city’s international district with dedicated job support, helping to cement the community as a global city welcoming both domestic and foreign-born residents. U.S. Department of Labor Region 4 administrator Nicholas Lalpuis spoke highly of the new workforce center in a statement, saying:
“We at the Department of Labor are not aware of any American Job Center in an international district.”
An ambitious project meant to transform an underdeveloped part of North Dallas into a global hub, the Dallas International District is made up of hotels, residences, a PreK-12 International STEAM Academy, a mixture of retail establishments, and a planned 20-acre park. The goal of the city’s International District being created was to provide an all-inclusive environment for living, working, and playing.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on August 3, with North Dallas officials on location with several North Texas notables and officials in attendance.
