Once again Dallas has snagged the No. 2 spot on Thumbtack’s annual ranking of the most festive cities in the United States.
Each year, home services provider Thumbtack issues an annual report detailing which cities are installing the most holiday lights. Its latest report is for the period between October 2023 and October 2024 and according to the data from 50 states Dallas was second only Austin. In 2022 Dallas first rose to second place, a position it has held now for three years.
Holiday outdoor decorations can include signage provided by local Print shops with wording such as ‘Santa’s Workshop’ or ‘Happy Holidays’ from (family name)’ or whatever else the homeowner may wish.
It turns out Texas is a particularly festive state with four of the top 10 festive cities located here. In addition to Austin and Dallas taking the top two slots Houston scored the No. 4 spot with San Antonio rounding out the top 10.
According to Thumbtack, outsourcing holiday decorating can be expensive with the cost to hire a holiday lighting specialist running on average $168 to $300. Naturally the size of the house and the degree of lighting the homeowner desires contribute to the price. The company also recommends that Dallas residents avoid hiring lighting specials for the Thanksgiving weekend when due to high demand the prices are at their steepest.
