Black Cat Records N Comics coming to Cedar District

A new shop slated to open in Dallas’ Cedar District, called Black Cat Records N Comics, is promising to turn into a pop culture destination this fall.

Black Cat is a joint venture between the anime and manga knowledgeable Megan Daniel and movie aficionado Guy Steele who is the previous owner of Stage & Screen, The Movie Collection and Vintage Salvation. The new enterprise will focus on vinyl records and comics.

A unique and apropos Logo Design will contribute to a new venture’s success.

According to Steele, the new store will feature a unique mixture of records and comics that can appeal to a large listening and readership base. In comics, the newest and most popular will be represented as well as foreign prints and underground and indie publishers. Steele is quoted On Culture Map Dallas as saying:

"Our manga section should be second to none, spanning decades of the art form and all its iterations from toys, statues, shirts, and Books."

The music area will feature new, used and rare selections with “deep dives” in specific genres. The shop will feature weekly playlists and host live music events that may include local bands, podcasts and DJs. Spinning stations will also be available for customers to listen to the records.

Black Cat will occupy a space vacant for over 20 years near the I-30 intersection, adjacent to Scotty’s liquor. No opening date has been given due to pandemic-related delays.
