A reinvented Rise to return to Dallas

A former restaurant concept, Rise Biscuits & Doughnuts has had a facelift, and will be returning to Dallas under the name Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken.

Expected to open in spring 2024 in Victory Park Plaza, where the now closed Freshii salad bar was located, the new restaurant will join 19 others in the reimagined Rise chain. Other locations are scattered throughout Kansas, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, Florida, and California.

The new Dallas Rise will be co-owned by Isha Vedire and Ashwin Reddy. The couple, who contracted in 2022 to open 20 branches of the chain across DFW (Dallas and Fort Worth), of which the Victory Park location will be the first, have ample business experience, having built successful outpatient behavioral practices over seven locations.

In a statement, Reddy said:
"While our backgrounds are medicine and engineering, our love and passion are business, entrepreneurship, and building and growing companies."

The original Rise was founded by Texas born Tom Ferguson in 2012, and entered the Dallas-Fort Worth market in April 2017. The company then rebranded in 2019.

The first Rise specialized in biscuit sandwiches and foodie-style doughnuts featuring wild and crazy toppings, and was primarily a to-go enterprise. The rebooted Rise cut back on the donuts and is now a sit-down restaurant.

Vedire explained that the plan is to grow slowly with only two locations opening in 2024. The second location is to open in Fort Worth at an as-of-yet-undisclosed location.
