An event for kids of all ages is coming to Franklin.
Franklin is hosting a Touch-A-Truck event. Communities across the country hold these gatherings, tailoring them to match the equipment and services available in the local area.
In Franklin, vehicles, equipment, and trucks of all kinds will assemble in Jim Warren Park. Under parental supervision, children will have a chance to explore climb on, touch, and sit in the driver’s seat of these pieces of equipment. Police cars, mowers, tractors, tow trucks, fire trucks, back hoes, and more will be on display, giving children (and their parents, who no doubt will also climb all over them) a good look at the equipment that the city uses on a regular basis.
Organizers are aware that some children have sensory issues, so a “No Horn Hour” will be observed, at which time no horns or sirens will be sounded.
Games, music, and more will all be part of the event, as will food courtesy of local food trucks, who will have tasty treats available. City officials note there is still room for individuals and businesses in the community who would like to participate.
Touch-A-Truck is planned for May 17, from 5.00 pm until 9.00 pm. “No Horn Hour” is from 5.00 pm until 6.00 pm. Organizers of events like this could consider using brochure printing to create pamphlets that explain the pieces of equipment.
