Celebrity chef helms new Franklin restaurant

Chef Reuben Sliva, who has been recognized by the James Beard Foundation, recently opened Franklin Soul, taking over the space once occupied by Las Palmas, according to an article on the Franklin Home Page.

Sliva is a native of southern Illinois who has been working in fine dining in South Florida and Georgia for over 10 years. His latest venture is described as a Southern eclectic restaurant, with the food inspired by Cajun cooking, soul food, Southern barbecue, and other traditional regional dishes. Franklin Soul has only been open for a few weeks, and has not yet had its official grand opening.

According to Sliva, Franklin was the best place to open the new eatery, since it will allow him to create “great, made from scratch local Southern cuisine” in an environment that is family-friendly and fun, and will not be overly expensive to operate. He says it is possible to describe every dish as a ‘signature dish’, since he creates them each day.

While Sliva works in the kitchen, guests can enjoy live entertainment as they sample local craft beers and other drinks at a full bar. New businesses like this could distribute Promotional Products to help build their brand.

Sliva had been operating a barbecue restaurant in Fort Myers, Florida, but sold it to move to Tennessee. The Florida restaurant was named the fourth-best barbecue restaurant in the nation.

Franklin Soul opened officially last Friday, October 12.
