Celebrate family twice in Franklin

There are two anniversaries coming up in Franklin, and the city plans to party.

Franklin Parks’ Family Day celebrates The Park at Harlinsdale Farm’s 20th year, as well as the 225th anniversary of Franklin’s founding.

Family Day is free for everyone, and features a petting zoo, pony rides, hayrides, and train rides, as well as games, crafts, a corn maze, a pumpkin patch, and face painting. There will be a chance for attendees to go cane pole fishing at a pond on the farm, and a Touch-a-Tractor area will be set up. In this space, kids will be able to sit on large tractors, and operate small excavators. In addition, there will be equestrian events in the Tractor Supply Area.

The special guest is someone who has appeared at earlier festivals, the Gary Sinise Foundation, with The LT. Dan Band scheduled to perform. Five for Fighting will open for Sinise’s band. Gary Sinise is an actor as well as a musician, and was nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Lt. Dan Taylor in “Forrest Gump.” His band is named after this character.

The festival is November 2, from 10.00 am until 4.00 pm, at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm. The equestrian events in the Tractor Supply Area begin at 11.00 am. From 10.00 am until 4.00 pm, food trucks will be on site with food for purchase. Organizers of events like this may want to work with a printer who can create decorations using banner printing.
