Rhode Island’s recently created quasi-public agency, the Rhode Island Life Sciences Hub (RILSH), has initiated a search for its first CEO, and time is of the essence.
RILSH's mission is to coordinate on behalf of the state: life science initiatives, investment in Rhode Island-based companies, and encouraging workforce development and economic growth. The agency was patterned after similar ones in Massachusetts, and will have charge of $45 million of state money.
The hub’s chairperson, Neil Steinberg, heads a 13-person, unpaid board of workforce development and health care leaders. During the second hub board meeting, it was explained to members the importance of finding a CEO before the end of May, or at the latest by early June. It was made clear that the CEO will need to be confirmed by the Rhode Island Senate, which is only in session until the end of June.
Print shops can provide numerous printed materials for newly formed organizations like this one.
The search firm Korn Ferry has been hired to assist in locating a CEO for RILSH. The firm says that by mid-April, it will have a list of five or six possibilities and will present the final 3 or 4 candidates to the board.
The successful candidate will receive a salary of $250,000 - $400,000 for the job of “selling” Rhode Island to bioscience companies.Get a Free Quote for Print
