The diner was opened in 1946 by Louis and Dominic Gianfrancesco, a pair of veterans of World War II and was in later years handed down to Louis’ sons John and Albert. Now ready to retire, John and Albert Gianfrancesco are turning their family restaurant over to Ritu Nguygen and Trang Duong for their new bakery and café.
Duong and Nguygen are naming their new enterprise “Suis”, which in French means “I am”, and have hosted a few Suis pop-ups throughout the city. In speaking about their first permanent location, Nguygen told WPRI:
“We’ve been looking for a home, and this is where we landed. We just hope everyone will give us a chance.”
Banner printing services are often call upon to help new businesses and developments announce their grand openings.
Noteworthy for the Louis Family Restaurant were its daily specials for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Duong and Nguygen plan to incorporate some of the Louis Family’s most popular items on their own menu. The Gianfrancesco brothers have offered their help with the recreation of those menu items.
The new owners anticipate opening Suis sometime over the next four months with the length of time for the renovations being the deciding factor.
