In an emergency situation, first aiders may be called on to perform a variety of vital tasks, and a workshop coming up in Warminster will help people pick up these essential skills.
Through a partnership between the Warminster Rotary Club and The Trauma Department at Abington Jefferson Health, members of the public have been offered a chance to attend a session of “Stop the Bleed”. After ensuring that an injured person’s airway is unobstructed and working, this is often the next task of someone supplying first aid.
The participants will be taught a variety of simple ways to get bleeding under control, and the use of compression, properly packing a wound, and how, when, and where to use a tourniquet will all be discussed. There will be time for the attendees to ask whatever questions they might have, and everyone will get some hands-on practice as well.
First aid and other continuing education classes make it easy for adults to acquire new skills. Certificates of completion for a learning or other event can be prepared by the graphic design team at a local brochure printing company.
This session of Stop the Bleed is free to attend and is scheduled for Tuesday, November 15, getting started at 6:30 pm. It will be taking place at 225 Newtown Road.
