Warminster residents invited to hazardous waste collection days

Residents of Warminster, and the rest of Bucks County as well, will soon have an opportunity to dispose of hazardous household waste in a manner that is safe for people, pets, and the environment.

The county has arranged a schedule of collection days on which each household will be allowed to drop off 220lb or 25 gallons of items or substances for collection.

A variety of products will be accepted that cannot be tossed out in the regular trash or composted because it could be dangerous to do so. These include pesticides and herbicides; toxic materials such as household cleaners, antifreeze, and items that contain mercury; some types of household batteries; caustic substances; flammable products; oil-based paint and propane tanks that are 20lb or lighter. Pool chemicals will also be accepted.

The public is asked to not bring latex paint, asbestos, appliances, gas cylinders, explosives biological waste, tires, radioactive waste, PCBs, or alkaline batteries. Electronics cannot be dropped off either.

Flyers can be used to effectively promote events such as this to those living in the local area.

The first of the hazardous waste collection days will be on May 28th at Harry S. Truman High School, which is located at 3001 Green Lane, Levittown—Bristol Township. Further details, including a full list of dates and what will be and what will not be accepted, can be found on the Bucks County website.
