Residents of Warminster who have chosen to “go green” by driving a vehicle that uses an alternative fuel are invited to apply for a rebate from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
The DEP has set up a program for residents of Pennsylvania to help them cover the cost of buying a vehicle that runs on an alternative fuel. The funding comes from the Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant program, and can be used for cars that were purchased at some point during the last six months.
The rebate amounts vary, depending upon the type of auto in question. Those that use a large battery may qualify for up to $2,000, while those that plug in and are hybrid electric or battery electric maybe eligible for up to $1,000. This same amount is being offered for those cars and trucks that run on propane, natural gas, a fuel cell, or hydrogen.
Those who have chosen an electric scooter or motorcycle can apply to receive $500. A Direct Mail printing company can produce items for Mailing that let the public know about the program and how they can make use of it should they qualify to do so.
The number of $2,000 rebates is limited, so people are encouraged to apply early. Officials from the DEP noted that the program will be assessed to see how well it is working in June next year, or once it has given out the first 250 at the $2,000 amount.
