An event has been planned for Warminster for both experienced birders and those who are new to the hobby alike.
Gail Johnson will be leading a group through Warminster Community Park to observe the birds and other wildlife that call the area home. Along the way, there will be a discussion of the different habitats, and Johnson will point out the various species of birds and share tips about how to identify them in the field.
The group will meet at the front ponds, and parking can be found along Veterans Way. As the participants may be going through some terrain that is wet and soggy, those who plan on taking part in the activity are reminded to dress for the weather and wear boots that are waterproof. They are also encouraged to bring their binoculars so that they can get a better look at the birds they see, and the outing will last for about two hours. Print shops can prepare simple field guides and other materials to help those who take part in an event like this to get the most from the experience.
Those who would like to be included in this activity are asked to preregister, as this will aid in planning for the event. It will be taking place on May 19, starting at 7:30 am. More details, along with a chance to register, can be found by contacting 215-443-5428.
