Kenneth Long, Interim President of East Stroudsburg University, has announced that all students will be returning to campus for the fall 2021 semester. Currently, all courses are offered online, and a few students remain on campus.
Long cited his reason for the change as studies have found that transmission of the virus rarely takes place from on-campus organized events or in the classroom, but from casual activities that are less controlled.
As part of this plan, about one-third of the residence halls will be occupied in the spring, so that students who have clinical assignments and practicums, and need face-to-face instruction, will be able to have their needs met. Students living on campus will be able to participate in athletics and student organizations, study in the library, eat meals in the dining halls, and enjoy campus activities and events while following guidelines for safety. More details regarding such safety protocols can be made available through the use of flyer printing.
Long noted that he and the leadership decided to make this announcement as many faculty, staff, and students are eager to return to campus and be part of regular campus life. Having more students on campus during the spring will help to gauge any adjustments that need to be made in order to enable everyone to be back on campus.
