Those who really love dogs might consider checking out Hanover Little Theater's production of ‘Sylvia’, by A.R. Gurney, coming up next week. The title character is a dog that ends up coming between a husband and wife in New York City.
‘Sylvia’ not only gives the audience a chance to enjoy a night of live theater and a few laughs; it also lets dog lovers support a good cause. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales for the show will be donated to Operations Paws for a Home.
Paws for a Home is a not-for-profit organization, the goal of which is to place rescued dogs in homes across Washington DC, south-central Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. The theater could use poster printing to highlight the fundraiser.
The character of Sylvia will be played by Nicole Merkel, a human actress. The part of Greg, the husband who finds her, is played by Brian Shea. Heidi Hormel plays Kate, the wife who is less than thrilled by Sylvia's presence.
The production opens on November 14 and runs until November 23. Performances on Fridays and Saturdays are at 8:00 pm, while shows on Sundays are at 2:00 pm. Audience members who cannot make the fund-generating November 15 show can still help out. Donations for Operation Paws for a Home will be collected at every performance. Tickets for the show are $12, although students and seniors receive $1 off.
