A chocolate company near Hanover is marking Easter by jumping into the trend of competitive eating, as it holds a chocolate bunny eating contest at the end of this month.
Billed as the “only eating contest of its kind in the country”, the Wolfgang Candy Chocolate Bunny Challenge wants to see how quickly participants can chow down on a chocolate rabbit weighing in at 1.25lb. For what it's worth, the chocolate bunny is hollow, not solid.
The candy company could use flyer printing to spread the word about the event. Even people who are not interested in seeing how quickly they can gorge on chocolate are encouraged to make an appearance, as the candy store will be offering sales and giveaways during the contest.
The winner of the challenge in 2014, Don Yeager, got through his bunny in nine minutes. He went home with $100 in cash and the ‘Chocolate Bunny’ trophy. This year's winner will receive the same prize.
People interested in participating in the challenge should apply through the Wolfgang Candy website by March 13. To participate, a person needs to be over age 18 and able to get to downtown York on the day of the contest. Those chosen to participate will be notified on March 16.
The Chocolate Bunny Challenge is scheduled for March 28 at 11am, at Central Market House.
