The Sheppard Mansion has been a fixture in the downtown section of Hanover for more than 100 years, but time is running out for locals to get their last glimpse of it.
For most of the past two decades, the historical property has operated as a bed and breakfast. However, the two sister who own the property, Heather Lunn and Kathryn Hoar have decided to close the Sheppard Mansion and its adjoining businesses – the Carriage House Market and a restaurant. The sisters described their choice to shutter the mansion as a ‘business decision’.
The mansion has been in the sisters' family since it was built and was the home of their great-grandparents. They opened the mansion as a bed and breakfast in 1998 and added a restaurant in 2005. The Carriage House Market, which specializes in selling foods produced within a 200 mile radius, opened on the property in 2010.
Business owners can use poster printing to let customers know of any big changes in their establishments. In the case of the Sheppard Mansion, customers will want to know when its final days will be. The plan is to close the Mansion This Saturday, December 17. The Carriage House Market will stay open until Christmas Eve.
To help clear out any remaining inventory, the market will have a special closeout sale. All items will be marked down with the exception of dairy, meats, and produce.
The sisters do not plan on selling the family property, but will simply be closing it to the public.
