Hanover women invited to apply for pageant

Young women in Hanover who dream of winning money to pay for college are invited to apply to the York County Pageants Scholarship Program.

Now in its 66th year, the 2015 pageant is coming up fast and will be held at the Four Points Sheraton in York, near Hanover. Applications for the titles of Miss Susquehanna Valley, Miss York County, and Miss White Rose City are currently being accepted from women in the 17 to 24 age group.

To qualify for Miss York County, a woman by must living Cumberland, Dauphin, Adams, Lancaster, or York Counties. The other two titles are open to women throughout Pennsylvania.

Women aged 12 to 17 can apply for the Miss Susquehanna Valley's Outstanding Teen, York County's Outstanding Teen, and Miss White Rose City's Outstanding Teen Pageants. The application deadline for all pageant is December 14. Interested women could use printing services to prepare their applications, which should include a headshot photograph and a platform statement.

Women who end up competing in the pageant are required to make a minimum $100 donation to the Children's Miracle Network before they can compete. Once accepted into the pageant program, contestants will participate in a private interview, talent competition, evening wear, and lifestyle and fitness categories. There will also be an on-stage question for all age groups.

The event is scheduled for January 10.
