This month, the York County SPCA will be holding its ‘Hay It’s A 5K’ run/walk event at Codorus State Park in Hanover, Pennsylvania.
Hay It’s A 5K is an event that aims to raise awareness for the York County SPCA’s Equine Program and its expenses. All horses in the program have been placed in foster farms and taken from previous owners who were unable or unwilling to care for them. The program consists of how the organization houses and trains adoptable horses, alongside paying for any medical expenses. Funds for the Equine Program will go towards items such as specialty feeds, blankets, and immediate vet care.
Attendees have a chance to interact with miniature horses during the event, and can also participate in a raffle. Those who come to the run/walk wearing a costume will be eligible to win exclusive costume awards. Promotional Products from the SPCA will be available to purchase from vendors at the event. Runners and walkers without costumes may have an opportunity to win bib pull prizes. Ice cream can also be purchased during the race.
The Hay It’s A 5K run/walk will be held on May 25. Participants can arrive before the race begins from 8:00 am to 8:45 am to check in, and the race will start at 9:00 am. The cost to join the run/walk will be $25 per person when bought by May 18. The public can also register on the day of the event for $30 per racer.
