To celebrate its first year in business, Rock Paper Scissors, a beauty and hair salon near Downtown Hanover, is partnering with a few other companies to hold an open house.
Dubbed Roshambo, after the cry used to start off a round of the game Rock, Paper, Scissors, the event will feature a number of rounds of the game, as well as live music from local bands and samples from local companies.
The salon's owners have made clever use of flyer printing, hanging Flyers advertising the open house in the hands of a statue of Abraham Lincoln and on the hand of a cutout of Samuel Adams in the beer cafe at a local Weis supermarket.
According to Joy Nunn, who is putting together the event, part of the goal of it is to bring together businesses and local restaurants. Aldus Brewing Company will distribute free samples of its beer while Boneyard Barbecue has offered to provide food. A team from Simplicity Cycles will be there to put on demonstrations to the visitors. Bands schedule to perform include Olde Tigers, Hey Rube, and Macy K OFHD.
The salon is charging $10 for admission to the open house, with the proceeds going to a good cause. The money will be donated to the Duke University Cancer Center on the behalf of Kelly Beck, a client of the salon.
