What's Happening in Hanover, PA…

Hanover residents practice yoga with goats

First there was hot yoga, then yoga raves, and now there's yoga with goats, which Hanover has been quick to embrace.

After a video of people practicing yoga while baby goats hopped up and down and crawled over them went viral, and the "goat yoga" craze has swept the country. The trend began in Portland, Oregon and has made its way to the East Coast. It has now taken hold in the Hanover area, at Delawder farm.

Meagan Delawder has started hosting Gettsyburg Goat Yoga. Delawder has been raising goats since she was just 9-years-old. In addition to fodder for a yoga class, she has used her herd of goats to create cheese, fudge, body lotion, and soap. She was inspired to create the yoga classes after being sent countless links about similar programs.

Both yoga studios and goat farmers can use flyers to spread the word about their classes. Gettysburg Goat Yoga will hold classes throughout the summer, until September 2. Advanced registration is ideal, as many of the classes are already sold out.

Delawder does not lead the yoga classes herself, but has a team of instructors who will lead attendees through a series of poses outside, on a field on the farm. During the class, Delawder herds the goats near the area.

The yoga classes are designed for all levels of student. People who just want to spend some time with goats, not practicing yoga, are also invited to attend.
