Dozens of members of Hanover Area Fire and Rescue received recognition at the end of last month during an awards ceremony.
The special commendations were given to firefighters who performed acts of bravery in the line of duty over the past five years. The ceremony itself took place at the Penn Township Municipal Center.
Fire and other municipal services organizations can use Stationery printers to produce the certificates and awards they give out.
During the ceremony, Captain Matthew Barnes was recognized with the Departmental Commendation Medal for his aid in removing a victim from a fire at 132 De Guy Avenue in October 2013. Captain Barnes also worked to advance a hand line that controlled the fire.
Captain Bryan Spickler, firefighters Steven Kaiser, Terry Smith and Anthony Phillips were each given the Departmental Medal of Merit for their assistance during the same fire.
Firefighters Jason Kopp, Jeff Parks and Joseph Wysocki were given the Departmental Commendation Medal for helping to remove a fellow firefighter, Adriel Garibay, who had fallen during a fire in November 2016.
Firefighter Garibay, along with Captain Bryan Spickler and firefighter James Startzel, were given the Departmental Medal of Merit for their work during the same fire.
Fire Police Captains Fred Ayers and Richard Angel each received the Departmental Certification of Appreciation for assisting after a hit and run incident in January 2018.
