What's Happening in Hanover, PA…

Lead investigators from Ghost and Spirit Paranormal paid a recent visit to Hanover’s Sheppard Mansion.

Five years ago, a cook claimed to see the ghost of Henrietta Sheppard, who died in 1960, by the entrance to the kitchen in the building.

The York-based investigators visited the mansion on August 30 to check things out. Scott Wise and Don Ream, who also founded the company, were looking to see if there was any paranormal activity in the house.

Sharon Wise, who works at the mansion on weekends, and who also happens to be married to Scott Wise, gave the two men a tour of the house. During the tour, Ream drew a map of the mansion, while Wise listened and looked behind doors. Bill Heiland handles the tech components for the ghost hunters, such as voice recording and electromagnetic field detectors.

Ream stressed the scientific nature of his team's approach, noting that the investigators tend to stay away from popular haunts or from places that have generated a lot of media attention, as that attention tends to throw off readings.

Although the event was not open to the public, the team might return closer to Halloween for another investigation. According to Sharon Wise, the mansion will likely include more community members during that event. It could use poster printing to spread the word about the investigation to people in Hanover, enticing those throughout the region with an interest in the paranormal.
