Although the winter woods may seem quiet and still, they are actually teeming with life. A series of walks will be offered in Doylestown throughout the months of January and February that will explore the trails of the Peace Valley Nature Center.
The center, which can be found at 170 North Chapman Road, will be offering these naturalist-led walks along the trails that wind through the forest. Along the way, the group may spot birds, deer, and other wildlife, and see trees and other vegetation covered in a soft blanket of snow.
As this time of year can be very cold, those who plan on joining in on one of these excursions are reminded to wear warm clothing, and dressing in layers can help to keep the chill at bay. If the weather is inclement or the trails not passable, the walk will be cancelled, but the participants will be welcome to come out for the next hike. Local Print shops will be able to prepare simple field guides for this sort of activity that include photos and description of the different plants and animals they may encounter, and they can also provide more detailed information about them as well.
These Naturalist Walks will be offered on Wednesday afternoons throughout the months of January and February. They will all begin at 1:30 pm.
