Doylestown organizes inaugural Ugly Sweater Walk

A special activity is set to be held for its first time in Doylestown, and everyone is invited to don their ugliest holiday attire and join in the fun.

The community's inaugural Ugly Sweater Walk will be on offer in Broad Commons Park, and all ages will be welcome. It's a joint project of Doylestown Borough Parks and Recreation and Discover Doylestown, and while it's been asked that pets be left at home, service animals will be welcome.

The registrants in the activity can choose to walk or run as many laps as they wish, and everyone can go at their own pace. Each six laps equals one mile distance, and everyone is encouraged to enter the spirit of the occasion by wearing an ugly holiday sweater. The little ones can get involved by having their wagon or stroller decorated, and there will be judges circulating through the crowd, seeking its best entry.

To help make the holiday brighter, Doylestown Public Works will have a truck on site for a “stuff the truck” event. Everyone is asked to bring a generous donation of nonperishable food and warm winter clothing as well as hygiene products, and the goal is for the vehicle to be completely filled. A poster printing company can prepare oversize visual materials for an activity that show how donation will make a difference.

Doylestown’s first Ugly Sweater Walk is scheduled for December 7th. Its organizers are hoping there will be lots of public support.
