Doylestown residents are known for their generous spirit, and a training opportunity will help them to bring their neighbors in need in from the cold.
The Code Blue initiative provides shelter to those experiencing homelessness, and it has training opportunities in the works for the area. A session has been scheduled for January, and it will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church.
The participants are set to receive two hours of instruction so they will know what their responsibilities will be, and both shelter assistants and drivers are needed. The facility is open on nights between December through March when the temperature drops below 28°F. It will also be open every Wednesday. Those who attend the training session will be asked to fill out paperwork, and the organizer can be contacted at codeblue@co2ssh.org by anyone with questions or who needs assistance.
Volunteering with a group or cause can make a big impact, and it may also be highly rewarding for those who lend a helping hand. Organizations often prepare special Corporate Gifts to present to those who get involved to thank them for their dedication and support.
This chance for community members to make sure everyone has a warm place to sleep on cold winter’s nights is scheduled for Saturday, January 18. It will start at 9:00 am.
