Doylestown program seeks volunteer helping hands

A Doylestown initiative that believes no one should have to spend the night out in the cold will be helping people once again this winter, and it has put out a call to the community in search of helping hands.

The Coalition to Shelter and Support the Homeless is a grassroots level organization that operates a network of temporary homeless shelters in Central Bucks County. Known as the Central Bucks Code Blue Temporary Homeless Shelters, the initiative sets up emergency lodging on especially cold nights, and is open on dates from December until March.

The group is seeking assistance from local adults who would like to support their neighbors in need. There are a variety of tasks to be performed, and each shift is only a matter of hours. Volunteers will always work at least in pairs. Training will be provided online or in person, and takes approximately two hours to complete.

Community service groups often count on volunteers from the local area. To thank them for their generosity of spirit, many organizations choose to present them with special Corporate Gifts, and these may be prepared by an area printer.

The next training day for this volunteer program is Saturday, January 6, and it will be held at 301 N. Main Street. Its virtual option can be accessed now through the Coalition to Shelter and Support the Homeless website.
