Doylestown activity to craft homes for cavity nesting birds

Bluebirds and other cavity nesters such as chickadees require special conditions to raise their young, and a Doylestown activity will provide some new homes for local feathered friends.

The participants in a workshop at the Peace Valley Nature Center will be preparing nest Boxes, and these can be an ideal home to a bluebird raising a family. All the registrants will need to bring is a Phillips-head screwdriver (one with an X-shaped head), and when the session is over, they will have a new avian home to hang in their yard or other location.

While the registrants work on crafting their Boxes, they will learn about the ecology of bluebirds and how a variety of initiatives have helped them to make a comeback. The male of the species begins looking for a new nest site in March, so this activity will be held just in time to help them find a place to call home.

The registration fee for this event is $20 for members of the Nature Center, and $25 for non-members. Printed instructions that give tips for placing the nest box, as well as other ideas for helping local wildlife, can be prepared for this type of occasion by an area printer, which can provide inexpensive Promotional Products to distribute as well.

The Peace Valley Nature Center will be doing a good turn for the local avian set on February 20. The venue for the day can be found at 170 North Chapman Road.
