Portland Providence and BlueCross sign contract

Portland Providence Services has come to an agreement with Regence BlueCross and BlueShield, enabling Portland residents to continue to use the insurance company to pay for services with the healthcare provider without facing out-of-network costs.

This comes after weeks of negotiations due to having been deadlocked concerning reimbursement rates. The last contract between the two entities had expired at the end of 2023. According to KGW-TV Portland, Providence insisted it needed higher rates from Regence to cover its increasing labor and supply costs, while the insurance provider argued that Providence’s request would force premiums too high for their customers.

Printing services are invaluable to health insurance providers as they supply printed Booklets that explain coverage, as well as other printed materials.

Although the new contract had yet to be finalized, the two companies made a joint announcement that an agreement had been reached just prior to the deadline on Monday, January 15. According to Providence, it will stay in the Regence network while the two entities work out the details of their agreement, with Regence customers suffering no interruption in coverage for treatment at Providence facilities.
