Portland Music Month is just around the corner

In Portland, the end of December is not the end of the fun, as 2023 begins with Portland Music Month

Starting in January, the city will experience 31 days of music with 100 music acts at 21 venues hosted by the advocacy group MusicPortland, which will be turning the whole city into a giant concert venue. Portland Music Month launched in 2022 to bring some “sunshine” to what many think of as the city’s dreariest month of the year.

The Leadership, Equity and Advocacy Project is supported by the monthlong celebration with every ticket purchased for Music Month providing MusicPortland Bridge’s Independent Musician Empowerment Grant with a $1 donation.

Venues use a variety of methods to promote musical acts, including those provided by poster and banner printing services.

Those wondering how they will ever be able to choose from the more than 100 shows can enjoy a preview of the music with the music discovery app NearHear. The app supplies playlists from each of the artists.

In addition to enjoying the music, crowds and venues during the monthlong music extravaganza, attendees will have the opportunity to win cash prizes simply by showing up and posting reviews following the shows.

The city takes pride in Portland being a year-round location that does not hibernate during the winter, and residents are encouraged to get out and support local music venues and the musicians they love, while also discovering new ones.
