Missing from the city’s schedule of events for three years, the Portland Highland Games is making a return in July 2023, at Mt. Hood Community College, albeit with a smaller than usual program.
An ongoing event for more than 60 years, the Portland Highland Games have provided a uniquely Scottish experience for area residents. Attendees have come to listen to the bagpipers, watch the dancers, and enjoy all things Scottish. This year, the pipers, drummers, dancers, whiskey, food, products, and gifts that highlight the Scottish culture will all be on hand, plus beer, but the athletic competition will not take place.
Vendors flock to festivals of all kinds, always bringing with them a good supply of Business Cards and, in some cases, Promotional Products.
Previously a two-day event, this year’s return will be limited to Saturday, July 15. Due to the event’s three-year hiatus, holding the traditional Highland Games portion of the festival was not possible this year, so nothing will be going on in the Upper Field; everything will take place on the Main Field and in the school’s gymnasium. The Portland Highland Games originally did not include any athletic competition and was limited to dancing, fiddling, bagpipe playing, and drumming competitions, so this could be seen as the games going back to their roots.
Although the athletic events will be missed, organizers promise there will still be plenty to see, do, eat, and drink. Tickets are on sale now. Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products Get a Free Quote for Business Cards
