Portland celebrates Fat Tuesday with Mardi Gras parade

Once again, Portland’s Louisiana-style Krewe is hosting a Mardi Gras parade and inviting the public to dress up and head down to Mississippi Avenue to enjoy the traditional pre-lent celebration.

Among the goings-on residents can look forward to on Fat Tuesday are a pre-parade kids’ costume contest held at Luke’s Frame Shop. Also, guests can look out for signature mini umbrellas Krewe members have decorated, as these will be handed out to some of those who join in the fun by dressing up and taking part by dancing in the streets.

As is the custom, the parade will begin at Victoria Bar and continue along Mississippi Avenue all the way to Cook Street, ending in proximity to Ecliptic Brewing. An assortment of venues along the parade route will be offering food and drink specials before and after the parade.

Savvy business owners realize that by linking themselves with local events with assistance from banner printing services, or by handing out Promotional Products, they can increase their name recognition as well as their foot traffic.

The Portland Mardi Gras Parade is a free event that takes place on February 21. Three days prior to the parade, the 2023 Mardi Gras Ball will be held at the Wonder Ballroom, for which tickets can be obtained here.

Throughout the year, the Krewe takes part in a diverse assortment of community parades, fundraisers, and events like this one.
