Kristen Dennis will be leaving her current position with the mayor’s office to assume the same job title with Metro Council President Lynn Peterson. As of February 22, she will no longer be the mayor’s chief of staff, as that position will be filled by Bobby Lee, who has spent a long time serving in economic development.
When government positions are filled, more than Business Cards may need updating; often Letterheads must change as well.
Lee, a graduate of the University of Oregon and previously a member of the Eugene City Council, has spent almost 10 years establishing public-private partnerships between the city of Portland and the state of Oregon. He has, since 2019, held the position of director of Seattle’s Office of Economic Development. Prior to that he was Prosper Portland’s director of economic development.
In a statement the Mayor said:
“Bobby Lee’s public, private and civic experience, along with his work bringing partners together to tackle complex challenges, will help us address Portlanders’ top concerns – homelessness, COVID and public safety. He knows this community.”
The new addition to the Wheeler’s administration comes while ongoing discussions are taking place between Mayor Wheeler and his predecessor Mayor Sam Adams concerning a possible role for Adams in the administration.
Per the office of Mayor Wheeler, Lee’s salary will be $150,000 a year.
