As the Pacific Northwest’s only Verizon IndyCar Series race, the Grand Prix of Portland will once again be held at Portland International Raceway, and a variety of ticket options are available for the whole weekend of events.
The race, which had been held under an assortment of names between 1984 and 2007, has taken place at the Portland International Raceway since 2018. While the Indianapolis 500 may be the better known IndyCar event, Portland International Raceway offers drivers some unique challenges.
Unlike Indy’s simple oval, the Portland track contains 12 turns over its 1.967-mile course, along with a few exciting passing opportunities. Among some of the notable features of this track are the quick chicane exiting the front stretch, followed by a hard-breaking right going into the backstretch, with a three-turn complex prior to returning to the front stretch.

The Verizon IndyCar Series is owned by Hulman & Company and its CEO Mark Miles noted that the Portland event still holds the record for the closest finish seen on a street or road course, set in 1997.
The Grand Prix of Portland takes place August 23 to 25 at Portland International Raceway, along with multiple other races. For a full lineup of the weekend’s events, go to Grand Prix of Portland’s website, where tickets are available.
