The largest of Portland’s various street fairs, the annual Mississippi Street Fair reflects the neighborhood where it is held in that it is an eclectic, fun and flavorful mix with the feel of a large family-friendly block party.
As is true of any real street fair, the 2024 Mississippi Street Fari is a free event. It is held between Fremont and Skidmore on North Mississippi Avenue with only foot traffic allowed in that area during the fair’s duration. Attendees will find an abundance of specialty crafts, homemade goods, loads of tasty foods and plenty of fun activities. If this year’s event is anything like recent ones there will be over 250 vendors on hand.
Music will be a big part of this year’s Mississippi Street Fair with four stages set up to highlight local talent. Additionally, there will be a kids’ zone and a grandfather’s rib-off competition. Attendees will want to check out the businesses within the street fair zone as they often take advantage of the increased foot traffic and give Promotional Products and chances to win gift cards or merchandise.
Parking for this event is free but conveniently located spots are limited so it is suggested that fair goers arrive early to ensure they get a good parking spot. Other recommendations include bringing a water bottle to combat the heat and a reusable bag for carrying your purchases.
