An online learning opportunity will give Medford’s budding ornithologists a wealth of tips they can use to get their new pastime off to a flying start.
Those who register for the “What Kind of Bird is That?” workshop, which is being offered by the Oregon State University Extension Service, will receive an in-depth introduction to birding. As the registration fees will be used to help support the Land Steward Program, they will also be doing a good turn for their feathered friends.
The workshop, which will be offered online, will teach the basics of bird identification, and the common species seen around Medford will be included. The group will discuss how their characteristics can be used to identify a species, and using field guides will be reviewed. The attendees will also find out what web sites may be helpful to them, and the function will be facilitated by Susan Stone, who is a board member of the Rogue Valley Audubon Society.
