Bees have been hard at work all summer long making honey, and a Medford event will celebrate this ‘liquid gold” as well as the pollinators that prepare it.
The annual Oregon Honey and Mead Festival will soon be making its return, and Edenvale Winery will be the location for the festivities. It will celebrate the area’s agricultural sector and honey producers, and it will also offer pollinators a tip of the hat.
The function will take place in a historic winery, and all ages are welcome. Everyone will be able to enjoy samples of honey produced in the state, and those age 21 and up can sample the meads. Live bands have been booked to perform for the crowd, and speakers will give presentations. Information about heritage grains will be in the mix as well, and the kids can sit in on storytelling sessions. Crafting tables, beekeeping displays and other fun will be on offer, and each child will receive a passport they can have stamped at the various stations.
Along with the rest of the excitement, food prepared by local chefs may be purchased on site. A banner printing company can prepare festive signage that may be helpful in keeping large functions well organized.
The Oregon Honey and Mead Festival will be welcoming the public on September 21st. Its gates will be open starting at 11:00 am.
