Law enforcement Officers from Jackson County Agencies have been offered a continuing education opportunity, arming them with tools to help them deal with a crisis situation.
The Medford Police Department will be offering seats in its Crisis Intervention Team Academy (CIT), and it will run for five days. It will take place at 219 South Ivy Street , and there is no fee being charged to take part.
The syllabus for the occasion will cover an assortment of topics, and it will introduce tools and techniques for working with individuals experiencing mental illness or other crises. It will explore this from a law enforcement perspective. Developmental disabilities in children and adults, as well as older adults and dementia, are both on the agenda. The attendees will also learn the importance of self-care to protect their own mental health.
