Medford residents who enjoy the outdoors and choose to bring Fido along are welcome to participate in a workshop planned for this summer to learn how to avoid an unpleasant potential encounter.
The class, which is scheduled for Ashland’s Double C Dog Ranch, will introduce ticket holders to how to avoid rattlesnake bites. It was explained that, while people may know how to be careful, dogs are naturally curious, and this can get them into trouble.
The function will introduce dogs to the sight, sound and smell of rattlesnakes, and they will be run through a variety of real-world scenarios. Both caged and on-the-ground snakes will be used, and at the end of the session, each will be tested to see if they will avoid any they pass. Each will be trained individually, and the host of the day explained that the rattlers will have had their venom ducts removed by a vet so they will not be dangerous.
Dog owners often want their pet to be able to peacefully coexist with other creatures and training classes offer a way to help them do so. Certificates of completion and other materials for a workshop may be ordered from Stationery printers in the local area.
