A free learning opportunity that could teach participants some basic knowledge for entering the modern workforce will be available in Medford this January.
The Medford Library is hosting a Windows Basics course for anyone 18-years-old and over. Participants will get a review of computer skills, a rundown of the Windows operating system and receive other computer skills. Laptops will be provided for the lessons.
High school graduates wishing to enter the workforce who don’t have experience using computers may benefit from a course like this.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many industries experimented with increasing remote work positions. Years later, industries still have dramatically higher remote work jobs now than they did in 2019, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
What’s more, initial data seems to indicate that many industries saw a growth in productivity coinciding with the rise in remote work, BLS said. Employees in the majority of industries now most likely need to know their way around a computer to keep up with the modern workforce. Therefore, courses like this may help people attempting to see success in the job market.
Computer learning classes like these may need flyer printing to advertise on school campuses and community centers.
The Medford Library Windows Basics course is being held on Wednesday, January 22 at the Medford Library.
