OKC owner trades Dots for dollars in sweet deal

Mark and Scott Fischer, owners of Dippin’ Dots, have recently agreed to sell the company to J&J Snack Foods Corp.

The Fischers, a father and son team from Oklahoma City, purchased the Kentucky-based popular frozen treat company 10 years ago for a modest $12.7m while it was in bankruptcy. They now have an agreement to sell the company to J&J Snack Foods Corp. for $222m.

When companies change hands, it often necessitates a change in signage at plants, in business Stationery, and Business Cards, although the changes might not take place immediately.

When they bought Dippin’ Dots, the Fishers saw growth potential for the company, and expanded its availability to include grocery stores and convenience outlets, in addition to the theme parks, fairs, festivals, stadiums, and arenas where it was already available. Dippin’ Dots has grown into an international brand and has licensing agreements not just in the US, but seven other countries too.

According to J&J Snack Foods’ CEO Dan Fachner:

“Dippin’ Dots aligns perfectly with J&J’s portfolio strategy by adding an iconic, differentiated brand that uniquely complements our frozen novelty and frozen beverage businesses."

Upon finalizing the sale, the Fischers say they will carry on developing their company Cryogenic Processors LLC, which is involved in developing cryogenic processes used in industries other than ice cream, such as cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and plant-based foods.
