Beginning in November residents who find a stray cat or dog can take it to either of these fire station located at 2701 SW 59th or 4343 S. Lake Hefner Drive where it can be scanned for a microchip.
Flyer printing services are used for a wide range of purposes including Flyers posted to located lost pets.
According to Oklahoma City Animal Welfare Superintendent Ronnie Schlabs:
"It's always better for a lost pet to go directly back home rather than spend time in the shelter. By working with the Fire Department, we're making it easier for neighbors to help neighbors and giving families more opportunities to be reunited quickly."
At these stations the animal will be scanned for a microchip and assuming one is found, the corresponding microchip number will be provided as well. Moreover, instructions will be given on how to proceed to use the number to locate the owner’s information so they can be contacted and reunited with their lost four-legged friend.
This new microchip scanning service at fire stations 25 and 30 are possible due to help provided by OKC Animal Welfare.
