Poe, the rescue from Virginia, had spent most of his life with a family who were harboring him illegally before being turned over to the Wildlife Center in Roanoke. The young bobcat was named for the famous poet who spent a significant portion of his life in Virginia, Edgar Allan Poe.
Poe has joined Pando, the zoos female bobcat and the two appear to be getting along well. According to the bobcats’ caretakers, Poe is intrigued by smells and spends much of his time investigating and sniffing the area around him. OKC Zoo officials said:
"Since being introduced to Pando, caretakers shared he is relaxed and calm and is continuing to show Pando that he wants to play together."
Zoos often utilize flyer printing services as a means of educating visitors.
Bobcats are found in the wild throughout Oklahoma as they are a highly adaptable species with the ability to survive in deserts, swamplands and suburban areas. Here in Oklahoma bobcats can be found wherever there are woods and water.
Bobcats are about two times the average house cat’s size, weighing between 11 and 30 pounds and 26 to 41 inches long and live on average 10 to 12 years.
