Communities and schools are always keen to advertise the availability of their STEM studies and activities and often using brochure printing services to spread the information.
A personal interest is safe seafood and in swimming prompted the student team, named “Triple E Green Team” to tackle the issue of water pollution.
The team came up with a claw machine, which they named “Big Green”, to scoop up and sort into the correct bins the accumulated debris and trash found in the lakes. Director of Education and Family Development Dee Liggens explained the project’s development process this way:
"The first step was actually just to get a piece of paper, draw it out, what do you want to do? What's going to happen? So, we use our design process to take them step by step. They had done some research. Research is very important. You can't solve anything without research."
The Oklahoma City team competed against more than 80 submissions nationwide, advancing first to the top 20. Continuing on to the top 10 they went to the finalist’s competition in Baltimore where they presented their project and earned third place.
