Next month, Community Backyards and the Franklin Soil and Water Conservation District will hold the Community Backyards Workshop to teach Westerville residents effective backyard conservation practices when faced with stormwater runoff.
Community Backyards is an incentive program that provides Franklin County, Ohio residents with up to $50 in rebates for participating in either a live workshop or online course on backyard conservation practices, with the purpose of reducing stormwater runoff, controlling where rain falls, and using it as a resource so that the local watersheds are kept healthy.
By attending the workshop in July, residents will earn either a $25 or $50 rebate, which can then be used to purchase any approved backyard conservation item, such as a compost bin or rain barrel. Only one voucher per household, per year, will be allocated. The workshop will go over conversation practices such as planting native trees and plants, composting techniques, and ecologically responsible lawn care.
Educational workshops often rely on printed materials, such as Brochures, to guide students through the class. Local businesses specializing in brochure printing can be helpful in the creation of such materials.
The free workshop is scheduled for July 30 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. It will take place at the Westerville Community Center on 350 N Cleveland Avenue in the Multipurpose Rooms 1 and 2.
