Westerville seeks to fill vacancy

There is a vacancy on the Westerville City Council, and officials are looking for someone to fill the spot. Flyer printing may be used to disseminate information about opportunities like this.

In early July, Councilmember Diane Fosselman resigned her seat as she was moving out of the city, leaving a spot empty on the Westerville City Council. The Council will appoint someone to fill the vacancy until the end of Fosselman’s term, November 30.

In order to be considered for the position, interested parties have to be residents of the city, meaning they live inside Westerville’s corporate limits, and have to have done so for a minimum of two years continuously prior to being appointed. They also have to be registered to vote in Westerville, known as being a “qualified elector of the City”. They must remain registered voters for as long as they are in office.

There are also conditions that will disqualify some hopeful councilmembers. First, they cannot be employed by the city, or hold a public office of any kind with the exception of Notary Public, or as members of the reserves of any of the armed forces, or the National Guard or the State equivalent.

Applications are available on the city’s website, or through the Clerk of Council at mary.johnston@westerville.org. Applications must be received by 5:00 pm on July 24 to be considered. They may be mailed or hand delivered to the Clerk of Council’s office on South State Street.
