Uptown Westerville is about to get some new parking facilities.
Workers, who will start their task Monday, February 9, will begin by shutting down parts of the parking lot behind the Westerville Division of Police and the Westerville Municipal Building. The buildings are located at 21-29 South State Street, and the lot is one of the busiest in the city.
The project, which is estimated to cost $2m, will be carried out in phases. Phase I starts Monday, and is expected to last until the end of June. In this phase, workers will concentrate on the south end of the lot, near Park Street.
The second phase will begin at some point in June, and is slated to be finished by the end of October. This phase will necessitate closing the northern end of the lot, close to College Avenue.
The project will add an additional 20 parking spaces to the lot, which current comprises 151 slots. In addition, the plan calls for the area to be landscaped, new Signs put up, and utility lines buried. Also, a new alley system will be constructed behind the Municipal Building.
City officials might consider working with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for residents, listing the timeframe anticipated for the work, and listing alternative parking locations for their convenience.Get a Free Quote for Signs
